Beer Review: Samuel Smith's Chocolate Stout

Name: Chocolate Stout

Brewery: Samuel Smith

ABV: 5%

Style: Stout

Location: Tadcaster, North Yorkshire

Aroma: Fruity, with lashings of chocolate. Some coffee notes present. Sweetness comes through strongly.

Colour: Jet black with one finger tan coloured head. Typical frothy head, synominos of Northern beers.

Taste: Sweet with noticable flavours of milk chocolate, heavy and creamy mouthfeel. Roasted malt complements the chocolate well, and gives it a slight bitter background. Sweetness is at fore in this beer, chocolate flavours aren't easy to determine. A good effort for a chocolate stout, that uses actual chocolate in the mix.

Rating: 7/10
