Style: Strong Ale
Location: Norwich Norfolk
Aroma: Apricots, bananas, oak, a hint of sherry.
Colour: Deep amber with a thin white head that dissipates quickly.
Taste: A cloying bitterness, offset by a banana like sweetness, hints of vanilla and bananas in the background. The strength is quite noticeable without it being too strong. There is an oak backtaste that leaves quite the impression. More of a traditional strong ale, than a barley wine in character. Mild carbonation and a lack of fizziness add to the experience, while it gives an odd sense of warm.
Rating: A pleasant drinking beer, not much going for it on the flavour profile. If it was aged more it would perhaps taste better. The beer tries to emulate a Belgian Tripel, but doesn't quite get it right. Also the lack of a head, affects the overall mouthfeel.
