Name: Kriek Boon
ABV: 4%
Brewery: Brouwerij Boon
Style: Fruit Beer (Lambic)
Location: Lembeek, Belgium
Aroma: Cherries dominate through out followed by hints of oak, liquoriche, vanilla and almonds.
Colour: Deep red with a thin pink coloured head.
Taste: Tart and sweet flavours are easily balanced, while the high cherry content makes up for much of the body and character. There is a touch of hoppy bitterness in the background with a lacing of oak which noticeable comes through in the aftertaste. The mouthfeel is jammy and cloying, while intensifying the flavours as it goes along.
Verdict: Refreshing, decidely fruity and well balanced in the flavours. This old school Lambic shows any modern craft brewer how a sour beer should be made.
Rating: 8/10
