Location: Brill, Buckinghamshire
Aroma: Tropical fruits with a kick of caramel, butterscotch and floral grassy hops.
Colour: Orange with a one finger ivory coloured head.
Flavour: A bittersweet flavour, followed by a bed of intense citrus fruits, namely lemons and orange peel thrown into the mix. The malty backbone gives off hints of toffee and vanilla, offering a direct counterpoint to the fruity overtones. The aftertaste however is a
bit lacking.
Verdict: Potent in flavours, yet the malt notes seems to clash with the hops for attention which leaves the overall picture rather muddy and confused. It is a bit of directionless beer to be honest, more could have been done to diversify the range of hops in the recipe to give it more character while a touch more strength would have given it more depth, that is typical with traditional English IPA.
